This includes multi-week workout programs, specially designed to help users build momentum and maintain perseverance. This move took place right after Apple Fitness+ expanded its scale to many new markets last month.
At the same time, Apple also launched the annual challenge "Ring in the New Year" for Apple Watch users. The challenge takes place from January 7th to the end of January 31st. To receive this special badge, users need to complete all 3 continuous activity rings in any 7 days of January.
In a press release just released, Apple shared impressive data showing that Apple Watch plays an important role in promoting users to exercise more and maintain this habit throughout the new year.
Data is extracted from about 100,000 people participating in the "Apple Heart and Movement Research" over the past 4 years. Apple pointed out that most people often give up their New Year's fitness goals on Friday, the second week of January, also known as "Quitter's Day". However, Apple Watch wearers tend to be significantly more persistent with their goals.
According to Apple's report, after a period of decreasing the average number of minutes of exercise during the November and December holidays, Apple Watch users' exercise habits not only increased sharply again in January but also continued to progress positively.
More than 60% of Apple Watch users have increased their daily exercise minutes by more than 10% in the first two weeks of January compared to the average of December. Nearly 80% of users maintained this increased level of exercise throughout the second half of January. Notably, 90% of the above group still maintained high exercise intensity until the end of February and March.
