SÓNG HỮU |

Hanoi - The above proposal aims to preserve and promote the historical value of Long Bien Bridge associated with the development of cultural, service, and tourist space in the area of 131 stone bridge arches.

Hanoi City People's Committee has just proposed to the Ministry of Construction to direct Vietnam Railways Corporation to implement the adjustment of train running in the city center.

Accordingly, Hanoi proposed that passenger trains from the south stop at Hanoi station, and passenger trains from the north will stop at Gia Lam station.

Passenger transfer from Hanoi station to Gia Lam station and vice versa will be assigned to the Hanoi Department of Construction, departments and branches to develop plans and organize implementation.

If approved by the Ministry of Construction, the train coffee street located on the railway section between Hanoi station and Long Bien station will not have passenger trains passing through.

Hanoi People's Committee also proposed that the Ministry of Construction hand over infrastructure assets of the national railway section from Gia Lam station to Hanoi station, to be completed in the second quarter of 2026, so that the city can deploy the renovation and renovation of historical and cultural space in the west of Hanoi Old Quarter and the east of Thang Long Imperial Citadel Center.

At the same time, the city will study the architectural plan for urban railway line No. 1 passing through the Old Quarter and Old Quarter to avoid destroying the spatial structure and landscape of the heritage area.

Explaining this proposal, the City People's Committee said that it aims to preserve and promote the historical value of Long Bien Bridge associated with the development of cultural, service, and tourist space in the area of 131 stone bridge arches on the railway section from Hanoi station to Long Bien station.

Accordingly, Hanoi has coordinated with the Economic Agency - French Embassy in Vietnam to implement the Technical Support Project "Research and renovation of Long Bien Bridge".

The project includes surveying and comprehensively assessing the current situation, proposing renovation solutions to ensure traffic safety, and developing a scenario to promote the heritage value of Long Bien bridge.

Hanoi People's Committee has directed departments and agencies to study plans to preserve and promote the historical value of Long Bien Bridge associated with the development of cultural, service, and tourist space in the area of 131 stone bridge arches belonging to the Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line, along Phung Hung - Gam Cau - Long Bien Bridge streets.

This area is oriented to develop synchronously with the historical - cultural - architectural space of the capital's heritage, connecting the West of Hanoi's Old Quarter with the East of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, which is a particularly important space part, associated with Long Bien Bridge - a symbol of history, culture, and architecture of the Capital, likened to a "living museum" deeply imprinted in the lives and memories of Hanoi people.

The formation of cultural, commercial, service, and tourism spaces (entertainment, cuisine, heritage experiences...) associated with preserving and promoting the value of Long Bien Bridge and the southern access road is a necessary requirement, ensuring harmony between heritage preservation and urban economic development, contributing to enhancing the position, identity and competitiveness of Hanoi Capital.

The train coffee street is located on the railway section between Hanoi and Long Bien stations, always attracting many domestic and foreign tourists.

In fact, although prohibition signs and barriers are erected in many places, this area is gradually becoming crowded again, causing insecurity and safety in the area.
