Although there is still nearly a month until the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), rumors surrounding iOS 19 have begun to appear in full. Recently, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said that Apple is developing a new battery management feature, integrating artificial intelligence into the upcoming operating system update.
According to Gurman, this feature will use AI to analyze iPhone usage habits, thereby automatically adjusting the energy consumption of applications to optimize battery life. In addition, iOS 19 is expected to add a prompt on the lock screen, displaying an estimated time required to fully charge the device.
Improving the personalized battery experience has further fueled speculation that Apple will introduce the iPhone Air model this year. Like the MacBook Air version, the new iPhone model is expected to have a thinner design, which means a smaller battery and therefore, any improvement in software to save energy will play an important role.
The AI battery management feature is said to be part of the Apple Intelligence package an artificial intelligence feature set that Apple started rolling out since last fall but received mixed reviews. Users will have to wait until WWDC to see if iOS 19 will actually bring the desired changes.
