According to The Verge, photos and a video of Meta's virtual reality (VR) headset "Meta Quest Pro" appeared on the internet, posted on Facebook by a person named Ramiro Cardenas. Accordingly, this person claimed that the device was left in a hotel room.
The device, Meta's Quest Pro glasses, looks similar to the Project Cambria headset that the company has been teasing publicly since late 2021. It also has some device-like details discovered in leaked videos.
The posted video shows Cardenas taking the device out of the packaging, revealing the controller and black headphones. The packaging of this device is labeled Meta Quest Pro in the upper left corner, along with an image of the controller and VR headphones. Mr. Cardenas also provided a close-up photo of the label on the box, with the words "Not for sale - technical model".
The latest Quest Pro photos and videos come a month before Meta's Connect event on October 11, when CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed he would reveal his next VR headset.
Mr. Cardenas initially shared photos in the comments of a Facebook post about the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality glasses. The disclosure of the VR headset reminds people of the story of an iPhone 4 prototype left in a bar in 2010, as well as the sale of Google's Pixel 7 on eBay before its launch and the prototype of a Pixel Watch left in a recent restaurant.
In July, Bloomberg reported that developer Steve Moser had found references to the name Oculus Pro in Metas code. Accordingly, it is likely that this will be the name Meta gave to the upcoming device.
