Accordingly, instead of developing a separate product, OpenAI has decided to integrate the direct search function into its famous automated messaging tool (chatbot). This feature will provide quick, updated answers and include links to reliable sources of information.
The new feature uses a refined GPT-4o model and combines it with third-party search providers and content from partners. ChatGPT Plus and Team users will be able to access the feature starting October 31, while businesses and education users will be able to access it in the coming weeks. For free users, the feature will be rolled out in the next few months.
OpenAI has signed partnerships with major publishers such as Conde Nast, Time, Financial Times, Axel Springer, Le Monde and Prisa Media. This means that any website or publisher can appear in ChatGPT's search results.
The integration comes shortly after OpenAI raised $6.6 billion from investors, bringing the company's value to about $157 billion, affirming its position as one of the world's most valuable private companies.
