Microsoft Copilot's Smart mode may be supported by GPT-5

Microsoft is testing a new "Smart" mode for Copilot, promising to improve flexible response capabilities and automatic adjustment according to user tasks.

Microsoft is quietly rolling out a new "Smart mode" for Copilot, an AI assistant built into the Windows operating system and some applications, according to Indianexpress.

Most likely, this mode will be supported by GPT-5. the next-generation language model developed by OpenAI and about to be launched in the near future.

According to the discovery of TestingCatalog (a platform that specializes in reporting updates and analyzing new AI tools), some selected users have been able to experience this "Smart" mode on both the application and the Copilot website.

Users can access the feature through the display model select below the text entry field. Microsoft describes this mode as having the ability to think deeply or respond quickly depending on the task, helping to improve flexibility and efficiency when interacting with AI.

The highlight of the "Smart" mode is the ability to automatically adjust the AI model depending on the user's request, without having to manual conversion.

This suggests that Microsoft Copilot may be integrating or testing GPT-5. a large language model that is expected to enhance reasoning and task automation capabilities.

In the past, OpenAI CEO Sam altman also revealed that GPT-5 will bring both "argudom" and "de arrested" capabilities, something that has not appeared clearly in previous versions. This could be the core platform for Copilot's "Smart" mode.

GPT-5 has been in development for a long time and has been delayed due to safety issues. According to many sources, the new model may be launched in August.

Although details about the level of integration between GPT-5 and Copilot are still unclear, Microsoft's early testing of new features shows careful preparation for the next wave of AI.

Copilot is now integrated on many Windows devices and, although not yet as popular as ChatGPT, Microsoft is still trying to turn it into the most accessible generative AI assistant.

The partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI has therefore become increasingly close, despite concerns about competitiveness in the technology industry.

The advent of GPT-5 and new smart modes promises to significantly expand the potential of AI in work and daily life, while setting new standards for the performance and intelligence of virtual assistants.
