According to Techcrunch, citing market analysis data from research firm AppFigures, the ChatGPT application on both Android and iOS operating systems has reached 2 billion USD spent from consumers worldwide. This is about 30 times the total spending of ChatGPT's mobile rivals, such as Claude, Grok, and Copilot.
From January to July 2025, ChatGPT's revenue will reach 1.35 billion USD, up 673% over the same period last year. On average, this application has brought in $193 million in revenue per month this year, $25 million/month higher than last year.
This figure is about 53 times higher than Grok - an application that has earned about 25.6 million USD this year. Grok users' monthly spending reached 3.6 million USD, equivalent to 1.9% compared to ChatGPT.
ChatGPT's global installation-on-turn revenue is $2.91, significantly above its closest competitors such as Claude ($2.55), Grok ($0.75) and Copilot ($0.28). In the US, where ChatGPT generates 38% of total revenue, the average spending per installation is $10, showing the app's strong ability to make money in major markets.
These figures show that competitors have a long way to go to catch up with ChatGPT on mobile devices, even if AppFigures' data does not reflect the overall picture of the revenue of artificial intelligence (AI) companies.
To date, ChatGPT has recorded 690 million app downloads globally, much higher than Grok's 39.5 million. The average monthly ChatGPT download volume globally is currently around 45 million, up 180% from around 16 million in January to July 2024.
As of this time in 2025, the ChatGPT application has been downloaded 318 million times, 2.8 times more than the 113 million downloads in the same period last year.
In terms of the number of lifetime downloads, India is the leading market with 13.7%, while the US is second with 10.3% of downloads.
