The 11th Vietnam IT Day 2024 program took place in Tokyo, Japan under the collaboration of VINASA and Japanese partners.

On August 6, the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), the Japan Information Technology Services Industry Association (JISA), and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) jointly organized the 11th Vietnam IT Day 2024 in Tokyo, Japan.

The event was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and is part of the annual trade promotion activities aimed at connecting and promoting cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses in the field of digital technology.

The Vietnam IT Day 2024 had the participation of 250 delegates from Vietnam and Japan. Notably, Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam Nguyen Manh Hung; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan Pham Quang Hiep, and representatives of the leaders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan (MIC) also attended the program.

In addition to the main workshop, the event also had 15 booths of Vietnamese businesses and over 180 one-on-one business connections between businesses from the two countries.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of VINASA, said: “The cooperation in digital technology between businesses of the two countries has been continuously developing rapidly and strongly, contributing to improving the competitive capacity in most key economic sectors. Vietnam still maintains its position as the preferred choice and a major digital transformation partner of Japan.”

In the context of the global economy with many fluctuations and businesses facing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the depreciation of the yen, etc., Vietnamese IT businesses have remained steadfast in overcoming difficulties, accompanying Japanese partners in the process of digital transformation. In order to recognize and encourage these pioneering businesses, the Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam awarded certificates of merit to six Vietnamese digital technology businesses in Japan, including FPT Japan, VJI Japan, Luvina Japan, Rikkei Japan, and Kaopiz.

The Vietnam IT Day 2024 had the theme of “Vietnam - A Comprehensive IT Partner for Japan's Sustainable Digital Economy Development”. The program emphasized three main cooperation directions in the next 5-10 years.

Firstly, digital transformation of systems and AI application. Vietnamese IT businesses have and are building digital transformation solutions and services to modernize the systems of Japanese businesses.

Secondly, digital transformation of production and green transformation. Vietnamese businesses are ready to provide production management solutions, optimize resources and energy, aiming to achieve a net-zero emissions target by 2050.

Thirdly, the readiness of Vietnamese IT human resources and businesses for the transfer of Japanese partners. Vietnam has a large and increasingly trained IT workforce, ready to meet the needs of Japanese businesses.

Mr. Noriya Tarutani, Deputy Director of the Innovation Division of JETRO, shared: “In recent years, the amount of investment from Japan in Vietnam in the IT field has increased significantly. Many Japanese startups have established development bases in Vietnam, focusing on excellent engineers and positioning Vietnam as a R&D base for advanced technologies such as AI.”

After over a decade of organization, the Vietnam IT Day has become a platform for defining IT cooperation trends and effective business connection environments between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses, contributing to promoting sustainable development in the field of information technology.
