From March 18 to 20, 2026, the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) - Ministry of Science and Technology has coordinated with relevant units to organize the first national domain name auction ".vn" in Vietnam.
The event attracted widespread attention from the business community, investors and Internet users, marking an important step in making domain names a valuable digital asset associated with brands in the market.
After 3 consecutive days of taking place, the winning domain name rate reached 78%. Some sessions recorded high levels of competition, with the number of bids for a domain name reaching 85. This result reflects the actual market demand for short, easy-to-remember domain names with high applicability in e-commerce, brand building and digital service development.
Notably, many domain names were bid at high prices. The domain name with the highest winning price reached 1,584,000,000 VND. This figure shows the commercial exploitation potential of the ".vn" domain name, and also reflects investors' confidence in the value of digital assets associated with national identification.
According to VNNIC, the domain names put up for auction all have a common characteristic of being concise, easy to remember and having universal meaning. These are important factors to help enhance brand recognition in the context of strong digital economy development.
The organization of auctions is not only aimed at effectively allocating Internet resources but also contributes to raising social awareness of the ".vn" domain name as a digital asset. This activity also encourages businesses and individuals to actively build an online presence, increasing reliability and prestige in the digital environment.
Based on the results achieved, VNNIC plans to continue to organize subsequent auctions in 2026, the most recent of which is expected to take place in June with many valuable domain names put on the market.
Maintaining periodic auctions is expected to expand access to high-quality domain name resources, promote the transparent development of the digital asset market, and support the digital transformation process of businesses and society.
