The Ministry of Information and Communications, in collaboration with TikTok and the Vietnam Influencer Club (Vietnam Digital Communications Association), has relaunched the #LuaDaoTrucTuyen campaign on the TikTok platform, aiming to raise awareness and equip TikTok users with knowledge about preventing fraud in cyberspace.
#LuaDaoTrucTuyen responds to the campaign "Skills to identify and prevent online fraud to protect people in cyberspace" launched by the Ministry of Information and Communications last August, affirming TikTok's efforts to help users proactively prevent and respond to online fraud, joining hands to promote a healthy and positive digital environment in Vietnam.
According to the Department of Information Security, in the first 9 months of 2024, there were more than 22,000 reports of online fraud sent by users to the Vietnam Information Security Warning Portal. Not only increasing in number, fraud methods in cyberspace are becoming more and more complex with many new tricks, targeting different groups of people.
In addition to technical solutions, raising awareness and disseminating knowledge from basic to advanced to users is one of the top priorities to help minimize the negative impact of online fraud.
Through the #LuaDaoTrucTuyen campaign, the coordinating units call on users to participate in creating propaganda content to push back fraud problems in the digital age. Taking place from October 22 to November 22, through videos and livestreams, the campaign updates new fraud tricks as well as effective tips and methods to recognize and prevent this problem.
Mr. Tran Quang Hung - Deputy Director of the Ministry of Information and Communications - shared: "Online fraudsters are becoming more and more sophisticated in changing their methods, thoroughly taking advantage of new technology to attack, infiltrate, and commit large-scale fraud, causing economic damage and negatively affecting social order and safety.
In 2023, with the cooperation of agencies, units, and online platforms, the campaign helped people identify 24 common forms of fraud in cyberspace. Continuing in 2024, we focus on equipping each person with the ability to protect themselves and their families from fraud. This mission is a long-term journey that requires the cooperation of all components."
