Samsung is expected to officially launch the Galaxy XR virtual reality headset, part of the Moohan Project, at the end of October in its home country of Korea.
The event is scheduled to take place before October 15 so users can pre-order, while the device will be on display at stores from October 20, coinciding with previous rumors about the official launch date of October 21.
Project Moohan has appeared at many major events in 2025, including the Galaxy S25 Unpacked, MWC, Google I/O and AR/VR conferences such as AWE.
However, detailed information about the Galaxy XR is still limited. Leaks say the headset will cost around $2,000. higher than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 but lower than the Apple Vision Pro.
The Galaxy XR is expected to be equipped with a 1.3-inch micro-OLED screen with a resolution of 3552x3840, providing 13.64 million photo points per eye, far surpassing the Vision Pro and three times the Quest 3.
The device will also use Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, an upgraded version compared to the chip used in Meta Quest 3 and 3S, promising powerful performance for AR/VR applications.
There is still no confirmation of a global launch in October, but reports say the Galaxy XR will be released first in Korea and Asian markets, then to Western countries.
Samsung is also developing AI-powered smart glasses, showing its export orientation to XR and AR technology.
Meanwhile, Apple seems to have suspended Vision Pro to focus on developing Apple Glasses, while Meta has launched a new AR glasses, including Ray- Ban Display with integrated AR screens. Google and Samsung are said to be collaborating on the Haean AR project, expected to launch in early 2026.
With increasingly fierce competition between technology giants, 2026 is predicted to be a pivotal time for the AR glasses market, opening up new opportunities for high-quality virtual reality and enhanced reality devices, in which the Galaxy XR is considered an important strategic step of Samsung.
