According to initial information, the fire broke out on the first floor of a 9-storey building (believed to be a mini apartment), in lane 39 Yen Xa, Thanh Liet ward at 0:00 on October 4.
The fire created smoke that quickly spread to the upper floors, blocking the exit on the stairs. Many people trapped were forced to run up to the rooftop.
As soon as the fire was discovered, people called the authorities to report the fire.

Just a few minutes later, 4 fire trucks and 20 officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police arrived at the scene, coordinating with local forces to conduct rescue operations.
When the police arrived, many people waved their hands, turned on the flashlights to pray for help from the upper floors, while others risked their lives to escape in the dense black smoke.
After about 30 minutes, the fire was extinguished. 6 people trapped on the rooftop were brought down safely.

"Seeing everyone running around, the couple opened the door at night and saw thick smoke in the hallway on the 7th floor, unable to get out. The couple had to take a risk and take the escape stairs down," said Mr. Nguyen Bac, who lives in the building.
Through initial verification, the fire did not cause any human casualties. The cause of the incident is currently being investigated by the authorities.
