OpenAI is preparing to launch Sora 2, an independent application that allows video creation using AI, which is considered to have many similarities with TikTok but the difference is that all content is created by AI.
According to a report from WIRED, the new application has vertical video streams, swipe up to scroll with the "For you" page personalized by the algorithm.
Users can like, comment or reshot videos right on the interface. OpenAI's new generation video model will allow creating clips of up to 10 seconds, but currently does not support downloading content from photo libraries or external applications.
A notable feature is in-app identity verification, allowing users to use personal photos in videos and score with friends. The system will send a notification every time an image is used, even in unpublished columns. This helps increase transparency and control privacy.
The Sora 2 app was released internally last week and received positive feedback from OpenAI staff, although some managers admit that it could reduce productivity due to its high appeal.
Sora 2 is considered the next step in bringing video AI closer to popular users, similar to how ChatGPT has changed the habit of text creation.
However, the app still has many limitations as Sora 2 struggles to handle complex physical effects and realistic actions in long clips.
In addition, copyright issues also pose challenges, as some lawsuits such as The New York Times accused data of improper use in model training.
Meanwhile, TikTok has recently tightened regulations on AI-generated content to prevent misunderstanding videos. OpenAI is also facing similar pressure, especially related to children's safety.
The company has deployed new control tools for parents and is developing an age prediction system, but the specific age limit for Sora 2 has not been revealed.
With TikTok's operations likely to be limited in the US, the arrival of Sora 2 is expected to open a new direction for the next-generation AI video platform, although the journey to conquer the global market will certainly be thorny.
