eBay has just announced plans to buy back Tise, a website specializing in selling used fashion and furniture, headquartered in Oslo (Na Uy). The financial agreement was not disclosed, but is expected to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, after meeting normal conditions.
According to eBay, this deal will open the door to Gen Z and Millennials customers, young shoppers who prefer experiences associated with social factors and sustainability.
Tise now allows users to follow sellers, like and comment on products, receive personalized suggestions, and focus on trendy warehouses. This is considered a factor to help improve the experience on eBay, which is looking to renew itself in the face of fierce competition from global e-commerce.
Tise is not a strange name to eBay. In 2022, this company was the first unit to receive investment from eBay Ventures.
This deal is the next natural step in the previous investment, helping us strengthen our C2C services and connect more deeply with the younger generation, said Oliver clinic, Vice President and General Director of Global & C2C Market at eBay.
On Tise's side, CEO and co-founder of Eirik Frøyland Rime affirmed that joining eBay will facilitate the expansion of the community model and promote the vision towards a sustainable market.
Mr. Rime emphasized: We believe that reselling products can become fun, easy and inspiring. eBay shares that vision, and this combination will help more people participate in a circular economy.
Tise was established in 2014 and has so far raised about 45 million USD in investment capital. The eBay decision to acquisition not only reflects the ambition to modernize the platform, but also shows an effort to expand into the field of socialcommerce, where consumers are increasingly interested in sustainability, community experience and value.
With this deal, eBay hopes to increase competitiveness, build a closer image with young shoppers and strengthen its position in the global e-commerce race.
