Serious consequences of data leakage
Lao Dong Newspaper has just organized a seminar "Implementing data protection regulations, creating a safe and transparent digital environment". The seminar aims to clarify the current situation of data security in Vietnam; and analyze new points in data protection regulations.
Sharing at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hoang - Information Security Director of MISA Group, Head of the Organizing Committee of the CYSEEX Information Security Alliance Exercise - said that in 2025, damage caused by online fraud related to personal data exploitation in Vietnam is estimated at over 6,000 billion VND, showing the serious consequences of user information leakage and abuse.

Notably, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) is significantly shortening the time to perform attacks, from a few weeks to only a few hours. Even non-professionals can take advantage of AI to create Phishing tools (fake attacks) and profit from the purchase and sale of personal data.
Meanwhile, sharing with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ho Trong Dat - Deputy Director of VNPT Information Security Center (VNPT Cyber Immunity - VCI) - said: "In the context of increasingly sophisticated forms of cyber attacks, users are becoming targets of many risks in cyberspace, especially online fraud and exploitation of personal data.
Not only stopping at stealing accounts, subjects also take advantage of personal information to commit acts of forgery, appropriation of property or serving other bad purposes. What is worrying is that most users today still have the habit of using the internet in a'default safe' style, lacking proactive protection measures.
Risks come not only from fake websites or malware, but also from daily internet use behaviors, such as accessing links of unclear origin, using the same password for multiple platforms, or lack of control in the home network environment.
Series of solutions to ensure information security
VNPT Cyber Immunity (VCI) - the network security brand of VNPT Group - is building a multi-layered user protection ecosystem, aiming to help each family member use the internet more safely and healthily.
In which, VNPT Family Safe service is directly integrated on the family WiFi system, allowing to manage and protect multiple devices at the same time such as phones, tablets, laptops or Smart TVs. The solution supports blocking malicious websites, filtering inappropriate content for young children, and also helps parents set internet usage time for each family member.

For protection needs on personal devices, VNPT S-Defender is developed as a tool to support early warning of online fraud risks. The application has the ability to detect fake links, fraudulent websites or unsafe content appearing in SMS, email and social networks.
Not only focusing on prevention, VCI also aims to accompany users in case of incidents that have occurred. In reality, many online scams are only detected when money has been transferred, accounts have been exploited, or personal information has been compromised.
With that approach, VNPT CyCare cybersecurity insurance is implemented as a financial support mechanism for users when encountering cybersecurity incidents. The product aims to support customers in cases of damage arising related to online fraud, online money transfers, account loss or risks related to online data and identity.
In the context of increasingly sophisticated forms of cyberattacks, technology solutions are expected to become an important "shield" to help users detect risks early, limit the leakage of personal data and minimize damage caused by online fraud.
