Data security faces increasing risks
Lao Dong Newspaper has just organized a seminar "Implementing data protection regulations, creating a safe and transparent digital environment".
At the seminar, a reality pointed out was that data security in Vietnam in recent years has faced increasing risks, complex and noteworthy developments.
According to a report by the National Cyber Security Association, in 2025, information systems in Vietnam faced about 552,000 cyber attacks. The attacks are increasingly targeted and focused on stealing valuable data instead of just destroying the system. Cyber security experts also noted a shift from widespread attacks to targeted attacks (APT), ransomware and data theft, in which personal data and customer data of businesses become the main targets of hackers.
In addition, the damage caused by online fraud related to personal data exploitation in Vietnam in 2025 is estimated at more than 6,000 billion VND, showing the serious consequences of user data leakage and abuse.
Sharing at the seminar, Senior Colonel, Doctor Dao Trung Hieu - Member of the National Cyber Security Association said that the statistical figure of 6,000 billion VND is not only a warning about economic damage, but also shows the alarming shift of high-tech crime in Vietnam today.

If previously the main crime was system intrusion attacks, now the subjects have aimed at appropriating resources, which are personal data; using data to personalize fraudulent scenarios.
From a criminological perspective, this is not just a new trend, but it needs to be viewed as a risk of non-traditional security. We must recognize the issue of personal data leakage and then using personal data to attack people as a threat to social order in the digital age" - Senior Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Dao Trung Hieu shared.
Building a multi-layered user protection ecosystem
Faced with the increasing demand for personal data protection, many technology businesses in Vietnam are developing information security solutions for individual users and households.
In which, VNPT Cyber Immunity (VCI) - the network security brand of VNPT Group - is building a multi-layered user protection ecosystem, aiming to help each family member use the internet safer, healthier and more securely in the process of studying, working, entertainment or online transactions.

VNPT Family Safe service is directly integrated on the family WiFi system, allowing management and protection of multiple devices at the same time such as phones, tablets, laptops or Smart TVs. The solution supports blocking malicious websites, filtering inappropriate content for young children, and also helps parents set internet usage times for each family member.
For protection needs on personal devices, VNPT S-Defender is developed as a tool to support early warning of online fraud risks. The application has the ability to detect fake links, fraudulent websites or unsafe content appearing in SMS, email and social networks.
VNPT CyCare cybersecurity insurance is implemented as a financial support mechanism for users when encountering cybersecurity incidents. The product aims to support customers in cases of damage arising related to online fraud, online money transfers, account loss or risks related to online data and identity.
According to a representative of VNPT Cyber Immunity, the unit's goal is to build an ecosystem that not only helps users prevent risks early, but can also accompany and support them throughout the process of using cyberspace.
