Google has just announced a series of major upgrades for the Gemini application at the annual Google I/O 2026 event, showing its ambition to turn this platform into a multi-functional AI center instead of just a chatbot supporting chat.
New updates include the "Daily Brief" feature, a completely new interface, Gemini Spark personal AI assistant and Gemini Omni AI video creation model.
This move is seen as a strong step by Google to increase competitiveness with competitors such as ChatGPT of OpenAI or Claude of Anthropic in the increasingly heated artificial intelligence race.
One of the most notable points is the Daily Brief feature. According to Google, this is a personalized summary designed to become the user's "first stop" every morning. The system will synthesize data from emails, work schedules and important tasks to create a short, easy-to-follow overview.
Not only stopping at summarizing information, Daily Brief also has the ability to prioritize work and suggest next steps.
The most important content will be displayed in advance to help users handle work more efficiently. Google said that this feature has begun to be deployed for Google AI users in the US.
Google also revealed that the Gemini application currently has more than 900 million monthly active users, supporting more than 70 languages in more than 230 countries and territories. However, the company shows its ambition to expand its influence even stronger in the global AI market.
Along with the new features, Google has completely redesigned the Gemini application with a new interface language called "Neural Expressive". The new design focuses on visual experience with smooth dynamic effects, striking colors, new fonts and tactile feedback.
Instead of displaying long paragraphs of text like many AI chatbots today, Gemini will prioritize highlighting important information at the beginning of the content.
When scrolling down, users can view more text, images or related timelines to access information in a more intuitive way.
Another highlight is Gemini Spark, a personal AI assistant that operates 24/7 on a cloud platform. Google said that Spark not only supports answering questions but can also perform many tasks for users.
Even when the phone is locked, Spark continues to operate in the background to handle set tasks. Users can also create custom workflows to automate personal or work activities.
Gemini Spark is in the testing phase and is expected to be available to Google AI Ultra subscribers next week.
Google also introduced Gemini Omni, a new video-creating AI model that combines Gemini with the company's generative communication technologies. Users can enter requests in natural language, such as creating animated videos explaining the protein folding process, for the system to automatically create complete videos.
According to Google, Gemini Omni supports uploading audio, images and videos to create high-quality products with better consistency. This technology is being deployed for Google Flow and YouTube Shorts for users who subscribe to Google AI.
