Many of us are familiar with the experience of opening a recipe from a food blogger but having to scroll through a lot of unnecessary content to get to the ingredients and instructions.
Now, Google is testing a feature that could eliminate these cumbersome steps and display full recipes in search results.
The Verge has discovered a new button on the thumbnails of some recipes called Quick View.
This button allows to display the full recipe without leaving the search results page.
"We're always experimenting with different ways to connect our users with high-quality, useful information. We've partnered with a limited number of creators to begin exploring new recipe experiences on Search that are both helpful to users and drive value to the web ecosystem," Google's Brianna Duff told Engadget about these Quick View recipes.
Some say Google is creating a dilemma. Home cooks may find Quick View appealing because of its speed. Many food blogs have traditionally started their posts with photos and personal stories before sharing recipes.
However, it is Google's own regulations that have pushed bloggers to this approach, as longer articles tend to rank higher in search results and thus attract more traffic.
