According to Reuters, at least 46 people were killed in Israeli attacks in areas of Gaza on October 31.
Local health officials said most of the casualties were concentrated in northern Gaza, where an attack on a hospital set fire to medical supplies and paralyzed patient care.
The Israeli military accused Hamas of using the Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip as a military base and said there were “dozens of terrorists” hiding there.
However, Hamas immediately denied this accusation.
According to the hospital's nursing director Kamal Adwan, some staff suffered minor burns when the Israeli army attacked the hospital's third floor.
Last week, the Israeli army also carried out a raid on the Kamal Adwan hospital and occupied it for a period of time. Israel said that 100 Hamas suspects were arrested in the raid and that tanks were still stationed nearby.
Also on October 31, about 16 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on two houses in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. Al-Awda Hospital found one medical worker and two local reporters among the victims.
Northern Gaza has been the main focus of attacks carried out by the Israeli military in recent weeks.
In early October, Israel also sent tanks to sweep through a series of areas in northern Gaza such as Jabalia, Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya to completely destroy Hamas.
The war in Gaza began when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 civilians and taking 251 hostages. Since then, Israel has repeatedly attacked Gaza in an attempt to bring back captives and destroy Hamas, but has killed more than 43,000 Palestinians.
