Previously, when opening the Gemini app, users had to tap the input bar to start typing a question. With the new change, the keyboard will appear immediately, saving a step and improving the user experience.
Gemini's main interface only displays the greeting, so this change doesn't take away any functionality. Users can still quickly access voice input or Gemini Live higher up on the screen.
The “plus” menu icon remains in the left corner, while the chat history (Chats & Gems), AI model switching tool, and account settings menu remain at the top.
The automatic keyboard display is a small but useful improvement, especially for those who primarily use the keyboard to enter commands when accessing Gemini.
Meanwhile, users can still activate voice input by holding down the power button or swiping from the corner of the screen to open the Gemini interface.
Currently, this change is rolling out on the latest beta version of the Google app (16.4.36) and is not yet available on the official version for all users.
Previously, Google rolled out a major upgrade to the Gemini app with the 2.0 Flash model, bringing a series of notable improvements.
One of the most important changes in Gemini 2.0 Flash is the improved processing speed compared to the previous version. Users can expect significantly faster responses, making the overall experience smoother and more efficient.
