Truecaller's recording feature will stop working from September 30, 2025
The truecaller app's call recording feature on iPhone will officially stop working from September 30, 2025.
The above notice was issued by Truecaller in the context that Apple has just launched the native call recording feature on iOS, making it unnecessary to maintain truecaller's independent recording system.
According to Mr. Nakul Kabra, iOS Director of Truecaller, the decision to stop recording on iOS is part of a strategy to focus on developing other features such as Live Caller ID and automatically blocking junk calls, which are features that users are more interested in.
Truecaller launched the call recording feature in June 2023 and was initially only available to paying users on the iPhone.
Because Apple does not allow third-party applications to record calls in the native way, Truecaller is forced to use the solution through integrated recording lines. This method is not only technically sophisticated but also leads to higher maintenance costs.
On social network X ( Twitter), many users shared that they had received a notification from Truecaller with the content: "We will stop recording calls on iPhone. Please download the recordings before September 30 to avoid data loss".
Instructions on how to save audio recordings before they are deleted
iPhone users who want to save recordings before the removed feature can follow the instructions below:
- Open the Truecaller app on your iPhone, select the Record tab.
- click on the Settings icon and select Store Options.
- Change your settings to iCloud Store. If this option is turned off:
- Access iPhone Settings > USername > iCloud > Display everything > turn on Truecaller.
- To save each recording, slide to the left on the recording section in the Record tab.
- Select Sharing or Exiting, then select where you want to save the record (for example: iCloud Drive, Files, Email, etc.).
The stopping of recording calls on iOS does not affect Android users, where this feature is still maintained normally. For Apple, integrating native call recording is a step forward to help iPhone users no longer rely on external applications as before.
