According to Cyber news's research team, the leaked data is in an unprotected Google Cloud Storage Bucket, operated by Buddy Network GmbH - a technology company based in Berlin (Germany). Most of them are private message screenshots sent by users for AI to process content. The serious problem is that people present in these conversations may not know that their conversations have been collected, uploaded, and leaked on the internet.
Cyber news warns: "Due to the interface of messaging apps often displaying clear names, representative photos, and the contact information of the person being chatted, leaked data is more easily identified and tracked. Worse, many people don't even know that those screenshots exist."
The FlirtAI application is originally aimed at young people, especially adolescents, who are prone to communication problems. Therefore, making personal information, especially chat messages, public can have a negative impact on their mental health.
After being warned, Buddy Network GmbH closed access to the above data warehouse. However, the company has not yet responded to this issue. FlirtAI is still available on the App Store and is rated 17+, along with warnings about adult reputation.
Along with FlirtAI, Buddy Network also owns 2 other applications, Angel - simulated AI chat application and 90 Seconds - personal logbook accompanied by AI.
