Built on the concept of smart city, Indonesias new capital, Nusantara, is expected to be the first city in the world to only use autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles.
The force in charge of infrastructure development in the new capital Nusantara has announced that it will develop an automatic charging lane system for electric vehicles while running on the road, between the two newspapers on September 10.
Previously, when talking about charging a car, drivers only had two options: charging at home or using charging stations on the roadside.
However, with this new technology, the lane will play a similar role to wireless charging on mobile phones using magnetic touch technology.
Specifically, the cables will be designed to be located under the highway and create an electromagnetic field, then connect to a special device inside the electric car to convert to electricity, helping to charge the battery of the electric vehicle.
This design is considered extremely safe for people because it is placed underground, so there is no chance of random electrical gusting.
In addition, inside this lane, there is also an internal communication system, so it is possible to identify the vehicle entering the lane and start the toll collection process.
In addition to the toll lane, smarter and more sustainable infrastructure will soon be deployed in Nusantara.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo has previously said that people who love to travel by car, especially those using fossil fuels (gasoline, oil, etc.) should not go to the Nusantara capital.
Mr. Budi Setiyadi - Official of the Indonesian Road Ministry of Transport - also said that the government is quickly implementing a number of activities such as infrastructure development, budgeting and amending the Traffic Law, so it will limit private vehicles entering and leaving the new capital.
