Meta representatives confirmed that the test is underway but have not yet provided further details.
In fact, Instagram tested a similar feature in 2022 and further in 2017, when a " Repost" button was put into testing but not widely deployed. The fact that the platform has repeatedly returned to an idea that is already very familiar on social networks such as Twitter (X) or TikTok shows that Instagram is still looking for a direction to increase the ability to spread content more naturally.
Although there are many content formats such as articles, Story, Reels or direct messages, adding a " possess" feature can help users easily share their favorite content without having to create them again or take screenshots.
However, it also poses challenges in content ownership, copyright control, and the risk of overflooding over duplication on the platform. Instagram will probably need to consider carefully before officially launching this feature.
