Instagram will allow users to rearrange the photo grid

Instagram has just announced a series of new changes to enhance the ability to create content for users.

In a recent announcement, the platform said that users will soon be allowed to freely rearrange the order of posts on their personal photo grid - one of the most anticipated features ever.

At the same time, Instagram is testing a " tac dong" posting mode, allowing posts to appear on their personal pages without displaying them in the followers' news feed.

Previously, posts on personal records were only displayed in order of posting time, except for some posts that were "shipped" to the top of the page. With the new update, users can flexibly rearrange the entire photo grid to their liking, making the profile more aesthetic or highlighting important content.

This feature has been in development since 2022 but has been delayed. By early 2025, Adam Mosseri - the head of Instagram confirmed that he will soon deploy this feature again.

At the same time, Instagram is testing a posting mode that allows users to share photos or videos without pushing the post to the followers' bulletin board.

The post will still appear on your personal page, but will not appear in the mainstream, helping to reduce the pressure to achieve many likes or interactions.

With this series of updates, Instagram is gradually transforming from an interactively-focused platform to a more flexible and friendly personal creative space.

This could be a strategic move by Instagram to retain users amid increasingly fierce competition from TikTok and other creative platforms.
