For many years, iPhone cameras have replaced most digital cameras for popular users. However, with about 200 million content creators worldwide, specialized recording devices from Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Nikon or Fujifilm are still necessary choices. These brands even developed their own vlog recorders with overlists and optimization for social networks.
The iPhone 17 Pro is considered a game-changer. The 56% larger sensor than the previous generation helps to significantly improve low-light photography, camera depth and resolution. The 3 main cameras, super wide-angle and telephoto are all 48MP, supporting 0.5x to 8x optical zoom. The Selfie camera increased from 12MP to 18MP, marking a big step forward compared to the iPhone 16 Pro.
According to Techcrunch, Patrick Carroll - Director of iPhone camera architecture emphasized: "Wider view and higher resolution make vlog recording more convenient, making iPhone 17 Pro the optimal choice for creators".
Regarding video recording, the iPhone 17 Pro supports 4K 120 fps Dolby Vision and adds many specialized features: simultaneous front-rear camera recording, Center Stage mode, vertical or vertical filming without rotation and 60 fps 4K vibration resistance.
Notably, the device also supports Genlock for home studios, allowing multiple cameras in sync in the same system. Along with the hardware, Apple launched the Final Cut Camera 2.0 application, supporting ProRes RAW filming, speeding up file output, reducing capacity while still maintaining quality. The open gate feature helps exploit all sensors to record DCI 4K, providing maximum flexibility for post-production.
Although it cannot completely replace professional cameras, the iPhone 17 Pro is erasing the line between the phone and the camera. For many creators, just a compact device to replace both smartphones and cameras is an advantage that cannot be ignored.
