The first foldable iPhone may use titanium and aluminum frame

A new report from analyst Jeff Pu has just revealed details about the iPhone 18 Fold model, which could be Apple's first foldable iPhone, expected to launch next year.

According to this expert, Apple may use a combination of titanium and aluminum for the device's metal frame.

Previously, observers described the iPhone 18 Fold as having a design similar to "two titanium iPhones Air placed next to each other".

Jeff Pu said that the metal frame of the foldable iPhone model will be a mixture of titanium and aluminum, but did not disclose further details about the design.

Meanwhile, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the devoted sides of the device will combine stainless steel and titanium, while the exterior shell is made entirely of titanium.

Currently, Apple only uses titanium on the iPhone Air series, while the Pro models have switched to aluminum to improve thermogenicity.

According to sources, the iPhone 18 Fold will have an additional 5.5 inch display and a 7.8-inch display. The device is said to not support Face ID, but instead uses touch ID to authenticate biometrics.

In addition to hardware, this folding device is also expected to have a big impact on iOS 27, as Apple plans to optimize the operating system for the new folding format. iOS 27 is expected to focus on developing features specific to folding devices, ensuring a smooth experience when switching between two screen states.

Jeff Pu's report also highlights that demand for the iPhone 17 is exceeding expectations, showing Apple's strong sales momentum ahead of the folding iPhone era.
