Today (March 24), Bloomberg author Mark Gurman confirmed that Apple will launch the first foldable iPhone in 2026 - an information that had been leaked by many previous sources.
According to Gurman, this device will have a design similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold, instead of the clamshell folding style like the Galaxy Z Flip.
Gurman revealed that the foldable iPhone will inherit many technologies from the upcoming iPhone 17 Air model - the device expected to be the thinnest product in Apple's history, with a thickness of only 5.5mm. The iPhone 17 Air will have to trade some factors such as the speaker system and camera, but still bring a full iPhone experience, including impressive battery life.
Apple sees this as a technical guide to optimize components in an ultra-thin device - a key factor for the development of foldable phones in the future.
Currently, detailed information about the foldable iPhone model is still quite limited. However, Gurman said the expected price of the product will be around $2,000. Due to the complicated production process, initial supply may be very limited.
If everything goes as planned, the foldable iPhone will be in the iPhone 18 series. Previously, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the device will have a 5.5-inch side screen on the outside and a 7.8-inch home screen when opened - almost the size of an iPad mini.
