Myanmar's military government said that so far, at least 144 people have died in the strong earthquake on March 28. However, the death toll could rise as many of the rubble is cleared and many bodies are found.
In Thailand, Ms. Tavida Kamolvej - Bangkok's deputy governor - informed that at least 10 people have died in the capital Bangkok after a strong earthquake of 7.7 on the Richter scale occurred in neighboring Myanmar. As of 10pm on March 28, in addition to confirmed deaths, 16 others were injured and 101 were missing at three construction sites in Din Daeng, Bang Sue and Chatuchak districts.
Rescue operations continued on the morning of March 29 in the capital Bangkok. Authorities are searching for dozens of people believed to be trapped under a collapsed building.
Photos of the scene in the Chatuchak area show red and orange-wned rescue forces gathering around the foot of the building, while rescue dogs are searching in the rubble to find more than 100 people believed to be stranded.
