Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed that Apple once intended to remove the USB-C port on this iPhone model, making it the first iPhone to have a completely gateless connection.
However, this plan has been shelved to avoid legal problems with the management agencies of the European Union (EU). However, Apple has not given up on this idea and can apply it to ultra-thin iPhone models in the future, depending on the success of the iPhone 17 Air.
Apple is expected to launch four models this year, continuing to maintain the same strategy as previous years. In particular, the iPhone 17 Air will be about 2mm thinner than the remaining versions.
According to Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air will cost around $900, between the standard iPhone 17 version and two higher-end models. The device is equipped with a 6.6-inch screen, Dynamic Island features, Camera Control buttons and battery life equivalent to current iPhone lines.
With notable changes in design and product strategy, iPhone 17 Air promises to attract great attention from users and the technology world. If Apple is truly successful with this ultra-thin iPhone model, this could be a stepping stone for the company to go further in completely removing connection ports on future iPhones.
However, it is still necessary to wait for official information from Apple to know whether these rumors will become true or not.
