At the Google I/O 2026 event, Google shared a lot of information about its smart glasses. According to Shahram Izadi, Vice President and CEO of the XR division, there will be two smart glasses lines: audio glasses that support voice directly into your ear, and display glasses that visually display the necessary information as soon as you need it. Both of them help you be completely free and comfortably raise your head to observe while still easily receiving help from Gemini just through words.
Trendy exterior design
Sound glasses can only become an ideal companion all day long if they ensure two factors: fashion and comfort. That is why Google joined hands with Samsung and famous eyewear brands such as Gentle Monster, Warby Parker to create super glasses frames, users will confidently wear them anytime, anywhere.
The first designs were introduced to the public on May 20, paving the way for the complete collection of Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to be officially launched at the end of this year.
Breakthrough intelligence inside
Users just need to say "Hey Google" or touch the glass frame to access Gemini immediately. From there, you can ask questions about the world around you - or ask AI (artificial intelligence) to perform tasks on your behalf. Here are some features that will be available on audio glasses soon.
Ask about what you see: Ask Gemini questions about anything that catches your eye. Search for reviews of the restaurant you just passed by, find out the name of the cloud above, or quickly "read the taste" of a complex parking sign.
Easy direction: The glasses know exactly where you are standing and where you are looking, thereby naturally giving step-by-step directions. Gemini can also add stops to the itinerary or search for nearby restaurants according to your preferences.
Touchless connection, completely hands-free: Manage calls, send messages and ask Gemini to summarize missed messages without touching the phone. Or you can also request to play music suitable for the surrounding space - all through a built-in speaker system right on the sharp, clear glass frame and ensuring privacy.
Shooting and editing: Record high-quality photos and videos instantly. With just a simple command, you can take photos and use other applications to remove background noise details or playfully modify images.
Voice and text translation: Receive the translation in real time with sound that accurately matches the speaker's tone and pitch, or just look at the text on the menu, sign to listen to the translation.
Task processing support: Gemini Intelligence can silently handle multi-step tasks inside the system. Gemini can prepare coffee orders on DoorDash while the phone is still in your pocket. All you need to do is confirm the final order.
Direct connection to the application: Book a Uber car, learn a new language with Mondly and many other utilities, just by using voice to interact with applications on the phone. Smart glasses support smooth pairing with both Android and iOS phones.
