During use, it is common for the phone to heat up, especially in the summer or when using heavy tasks.
However, if the smartphone is unusually hot, it could be a warning sign of hardware problems or unreasonable use.
According to Peter Mueller, a hardware engineer at Zurich Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich, Switzerland), modern smartphones have the ability to regulate their temperatures on their own.
"However, if the device continues to reach an unusually high temperature threshold, the risk of reducing the life of components and batteries is very obvious," Mr. Mueller emphasized.
Continuously using heavy applications
There are many causes of unusual hot phone phenomena, the most common of which is the continuous use of heavy applications such as 3D games, 4K video recording, livestreaming or running tasks. These tasks make the processor and GPU work to the maximum, thereby generating a lot of heat.
Environmental temperature
In addition, high environmental temperatures, especially when using phones in direct sunlight or in closed cars, also contribute to the device's quick heating.
Incorrect battery charging
Charging the battery while using is a dangerous habit, causing the device to receive electricity and process data, causing overload of the cooling system.
Software errors
Another cause is underlying software or applications, especially on old devices that have not been updated with the operating system.
Underground processes can silently "eat" resources that users do not know, increasing the device's temperature over time.
Preventive tips
According to Mr. Mueller, users should regularly check the battery status, turn off the background application unnecessarily, and avoid leaving the device exposed to high heat sources.
Also, be careful with thick back covers or insulation materials, as they can interfere with the phone's natural heat output.
In cases where the device is so hot that it causes hand-burning, automatic power outages, or an unusually rapid battery drops, it can be a sign of a hardware defect such as an inflated battery, overloaded chip, or broken circuit breaker.
In these cases, users should take the device to a reputable warranty center for inspection.
Understanding the causes and having a reasonable habit of using them is the best way to keep your smartphone cool, durable and safe.
