Promising destination for investors in the semiconductor sector
On November 7, at the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi), the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition - SEMIExpo Vietnam 2025 officially took place. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended and given a speech by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.
In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Tam assessed that in the context of the strong development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the semiconductor industry is not only the foundation of modern technology, but also a key factor determining the strength of the digital economy and the development of strategic technology industries.
Realizing this opportunity, Vietnam has established a National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development headed by the Deputy Prime Minister. The Government has also issued a Strategy for the development of the semiconductor industry to 2030 and a vision to 2050, with the goal of making Vietnam a global semiconductor human resource center by 2030, and moving towards a global semiconductor and electronics industrial center by 2040 - Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam affirmed.

Sharing about Vietnam's advantages, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong said that Vietnam is assessed to have many potential factors from mechanisms, policies, human resources to favorable geographical and natural conditions.
"Firstly, with a strategic geographical location in the center of Southeast Asia, about 3-4 hours away from leading semiconductor manufacturing centers such as Korea, Vietnam has many favorable conditions to welcome the shift in the semiconductor industry supply chain. Vietnam has expanded its international integration through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with more than 17 FTAs signed.
Second, the potential of the electronics industry in Vietnam is the foundation for the development of the semiconductor industry. Third, the policy mechanism prioritizes investment in the semiconductor industry. Fourth, Vietnam has the advantage of abundant human resources, a young, dynamic population - creating a solid foundation for the development of the semiconductor industry" - Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong informed.

Increasingly attractive to the world's leading technology corporations
Joining the flow of the times, Vietnam is entering a period of strategic economic restructuring, transforming to a new growth model, using science, technology, tourism, and investment as the main driving force for rapid and sustainable development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that on the basis of the strategic orientations in Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, tourism and national trade unions, the National Assembly has institutionalized it with new laws. Including the Law on Digital Technology Industry to create a legal corridor to promote strategic technology industries in general and the semiconductor industry in particular. These policies affirm Vietnam's long-term vision and determination: Developing the semiconductor industry to become one of the pillars of the digital economy, knowledge economy and green economy.

In the context of competition and strong shift in the global supply chain, according to Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Vietnam is converging all the necessary internal resources to gradually improve its position in the semiconductor industry supply chain.
For example, Vietnam has a stable political system, a solid macroeconomic environment, and a favorable geopolitical position; owns an abundant workforce with competitive costs, especially in the fields of engineering and technology; Vietnam is increasingly attracting the world's leading technology corporations such as Samsung, NVIDIA, Foxconn, etc.
More importantly, Vietnam is promoting economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation, continuing to improve institutions, improve the investment and business environment, and remove bottlenecks in infrastructure and human resources.
These are the outstanding advantages of Vietnam to realize the goal of building a strong domestic semiconductor ecosystem, closely connecting the State - businesses - research institutes, universities, gradually becoming an attractive destination and an important link in the global semiconductor value chain the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.
