On the morning of November 7, many parents with children studying at Kim Quan Primary School (Thach That Commune, Hanoi) directly supervised the food supply and processing process at the boarding kitchen to ensure the safety of students.
At the time of inspection, the monitoring team noted that the kitchen area was clean; fresh vegetables, tubers, and fruits; fragrant rice. However, what makes parents worried is the discovery of some foods with signs of poor quality.
Accordingly, in the area containing the ingredients, the monitoring team discovered about 5kg of chopped ribs and bone marrow and 3kg of ground beef in a stone box near the processing area. These foods are described as having colors, not fresh scents, and bones with signs of rotting. In addition, there is a pot containing waste oil in the kitchen that has not been removed and does not have a clear identification label.
When asked to explain, Hoa Viet Company - the unit responsible for providing meals for students - did not give a unified answer about the origin and purpose of the above food.
On the same afternoon, speaking with reporters, the leader of the People's Committee of Thach That commune said that the locality had grasped the incident and directed the taking of food samples for inspection to clarify.
The leader emphasized: "The amount of food discovered by parents was not included in the students' meals menu for the day. We do not know why Hoa Viet Company plans to use this food and which units it will provide to.
Also according to the People's Committee of Thach That commune, Hoa Viet Company is a unit selected by the school through the assessment and inspection process of the local government, not an appointed enterprise.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities to ensure the rights and food safety of students.
