A notable new point is that Reels will now display a photo of a friend representative who has liked a video, making it easy for users to immediately start a conversation about the content they are both interested in. This is a feature already available on Instagram, where users can also send Reels directly via text messages.
Meta is also upgrading its content recommendation algorithm. The new system learns faster than user preferences and displays more new, more suitable videos, with half of the Reels recommended to be videos posted on the day.
In addition, Facebook also customizes suggestions according to the length of the video that users often watch. If you often watch long videos, the platform will display more similar content and vice versa. A new No Car button has also been added to fine-tune the proposal more accurately.
And in line with the 2025 trend, AI is also present. Facebook Reels will suggest watching more video streams by topic, making it easier for users to soak in the content they love.
With these changes, Meta shows that it is working to turn Facebook into a more engaging short video platform, while narrowing the gap with Instagram and TikTok, where young users are still dominating.
