Hanoi still has 12 deeply flooded spots

Minh Hạnh |

Hanoi - This morning (October 8), most of the city's central roads have been circulating normally, with only 12 flooded spots in the Nhue River basin.

According to Hanoi Drainage Company Limited, as of 6:30 a.m. on October 8, the water level in the rivers was measured as follows:

To Lich River (in Hoang Quoc Viet) is 4.69m.

To Lich River (at Thanh Liet Dam) 4.18m.

Lu River (at Lu - Set investment culvert) 4.18m.

Kim Nguu River (at the quay culvert) 3.49m.

Set River (at the quay culvert) 2.98m.

Nhue River (at Ha Dong culvert) 5.79m.

Canal O is 3.28m and Canal E is 3.24m.

According to Hanoi Drainage Company Limited, the flooded areas are still mainly due to the high water level of the Nhue River, causing slow water drainage. The affected areas include: Resco Urban Area, My Dinh - Thien Hien intersection, Le Duc Tho (My Dinh Stadium Square), Duong Dinh Nghe - Nam Trung Yen (after Keangnam), Vo Chi Cong ( UDIC building), Phu Xa (Phu Xa - Phuc Hoa intersection), Phan Van Truong, Tran Binh, Thang Long Avenue, Cau Buu - Yen Xa, Trieu Khuc, To Huu (Luong The Vinh - Trung Van section) and Quyet Thang Street.

The company has arranged forces and means to be on duty at key points to handle flooding, while operating the maximum capacity of pumping stations, including:

Yen So Pumping Station (operating 20/20 pumps),

Cau Buu Pumping Station

Dong Bong Pumping Station 1, 2

Co Nhue Pumping Station

Da Sy Pumping Station...

These pumping stations are operating continuously to lower water levels across the city's drainage system.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Toan - Deputy Director of Hanoi Drainage One Member Co., Ltd. - said: "The units are still mobilizing maximum forces and means to be on duty, operating the main pumping stations according to the correct process to lower the water level of the system, while cleaning and clearing the flow. The floodgates are operated according to the correct procedures, ensuring safety and have opened Thanh Liet dam to support drainage for the Nhue River".

Previously, in order to ensure the safety of people's lives and limit property damage, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee signed Official Dispatch No. 17/CD-UBND on focusing on preventing and combating floods, flash floods and landslides in the city.

The telegram requires immediate implementation of urgent measures to prevent and control floods according to the warning level; focus on reviewing areas with deep flooding, areas at risk of landslides, flash floods to proactively relocate and evacuate residents from dangerous areas, ensuring the safety of people's lives is paramount and top of all.

The city also directed the preparation of dike protection plans, protection of vulnerable points, timely handling of incidents from the first hour according to the "4 on-site" motto; at the same time, mobilized maximum forces, means, and materials for rescue, not allowing incidents to develop further. Localities must take all measures to approach deeply flooded and isolated areas to provide food and provisions to households at risk of hunger, absolutely not letting people lack food and water.
