However, unlike Reddit, which is inherently anonymous, Forum users still have to log in with a Facebook account and all profiles and activities will be synced to the new application.
Users can still use an anonymous name displayed on Facebook today, but group administrators still see the real identity.
Unlike traditional Facebook news feeds that mix posts from friends, followers, groups and content proposed by algorithms, the Forum mainly displays discussions from groups that users participate in. The application also asks for preferences at the first login to suggest more groups with appropriate content.
Meta said that all posts posted on the Forum will still appear on Facebook and vice versa, helping users continue the continuous conversation between the two platforms.
Like many platforms today, Forum is also integrated with AI. The "Ask" feature allows AI to synthesize answers from many different groups to respond to user questions without manually searching each group. There is also an AI assistant to support administrators in censorship and community management.
When asked about the new application, Meta said the Forum is still in the testing phase. A company representative said that Meta regularly publicly tests many new products to assess the usefulness and interest of users in the company's application ecosystem.
