Microsoft has just officially released the Copilot AI application as a native application on macOS, providing an experience similar to the web version.
Currently, the app is available in the US, UK and Canada.
Basically, the Copilot feature on Mac is not much different from the web version, but the highlight is that it supports Command + Space shortcuts to quickly activate AI and has dark mode for macOS users.
This move comes shortly after Microsoft announced the expansion of Voice and Think Deeper features (using the OpenAI o1 model) for free to all users. These steps clearly show the company's ambition to expand Copilot's influence.
Big technology companies are not easy to put their software into the competing ecosystem, often taking years to optimize services for another platform.
However, Microsoft quickly ported Copilot to Apple, after launching versions for iPhone and iPad. This can be considered one of the times Microsoft deployed the service on the Apple ecosystem at the fastest speed ever.
Copilot is an AI assistant developed by Microsoft, integrating artificial intelligence to support users in many different tasks, from writing, programming, searching for information to office assistant.
