Just a few months after promising that most of the new Galaxy phones will be upgraded to the 3rd generation Android version for high-end models, Samsung today continues to announce that it will provide at least 4 years of security updates for most Galaxy phones, super-olds such as the Galaxy XCover or Galaxy Tab tablets will also enjoy the same upgrading mode.
According to Samsung, there are about 130 models that are updated with security under the new policy monthly or quarterly, not including models that will be launched in the future:
Previously, the Samsung upgrade period was 2 years, and this was usually only done according to each model and only when problems occurred. Extending the security period for Samsung smartphones is considered a move to improve competitiveness with Apple.
With up to 4 years of security updates, Samsung's commitment surpasses Google and is even broader with younger models. While Google's Pixel models are only committed to 3 years of security updates
