Ministry of Health promotes digital technology, artificial intelligence, big data in the health sector

The health sector is focusing on promoting comprehensive digital transformation, applying advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data in the health sector.

On May 6, Standing Deputy Minister of Health Vu Manh Ha attended and spoke at the opening ceremony of the 34th Vietnam International Specialized Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition, the International Exhibition of Pharmaceuticals, Medical Equipment and Healthcare in Vietnam 2026.

According to the Deputy Minister of Health, the health sector is focusing on promoting comprehensive digital transformation, applying advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data in management and provision of health services; and at the same time continuing to improve mechanisms and policies, creating favorable conditions for businesses to develop, improve competitiveness and international integration.

The Deputy Minister requested agencies, units and the business community in the health sector to focus on implementing well some of the following orientations:

First, promote research, application and mastery of advanced science and technology, especially digital technology, artificial intelligence, big data in the health sector; gradually form an innovative ecosystem, improve service quality and management efficiency, towards building a smart healthcare system.

Second, strengthen international cooperation in a practical and effective direction; proactively expand joint ventures and associations, promote technology transfer, and improve capacity to participate in the global value chain in the field of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

Third, focus on developing the domestic pharmaceutical industry and medical equipment in a modern and specialized direction; improve production capacity, ensure proactive supply sources, contributing to ensuring national health security.

Fourth, continue to improve institutions and policies and promote administrative procedure reform; build a transparent, favorable, and equal investment and business environment; and at the same time strengthen discipline and improve the effectiveness of state management in the health sector.

Fifth, promote social responsibility, ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medical products and services; put patients and people at the center, constantly improve the prestige and trust of society in the health sector.

The exhibition takes place from September 6 - 5, 2026 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace - 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi with a scale of 400 booths of 300 participating organizations and businesses;

Specialized seminars and talks such as: "Japanese Preventive Medicine - Early screening solutions for cancer, cardiovascular diseases and proactive health care"; "Digital transformation towards modern healthcare - Digital transformation of healthcare, towards smart hospitals" attracted the attention of many experts.

In addition, the trade program with the theme "Opportunities for joint venture and production cooperation in Vietnam" creates conditions to connect domestic and foreign businesses, promote investment cooperation and technology transfer.
