OpenAI launches ChatGPT Work, aiming for super AI applications on computers

OpenAI officially launches ChatGPT Work, a new step in the ambition to build a super application on computers.

This application will integrate ChatGPT, Codex programming assistant and AI tools for work into a single platform.

Unlike Codex which only focuses on programming, ChatGPT Work is positioned as a versatile AI assistant, supporting the processing of many complex tasks. This tool uses the latest GPT-5.6 model and is integrated into the ChatGPT application for Windows and macOS.

One of the notable points is the ability to schedule tasks, allowing users to assign tasks from the phone for AI to handle remotely, then track progress on the computer. ChatGPT Work can also operate directly on applications and browsers, including opening applications or moving files when needed.

OpenAI has started deploying ChatGPT Work. Free users can experience it on computer applications, while Plus and Pro subscriptions are used on both web and desktop versions.

The launch of ChatGPT Work shows that OpenAI is accelerating its strategy to move ChatGPT beyond its traditional chatbot role to become an AI platform that comprehensively supports work.

With the ability to automate tasks, connect multiple applications and operate directly on the computer, ChatGPT Work is expected to become a tool to improve productivity for both individual and business users, while increasing OpenAI's competitiveness against competitors such as Google and Microsoft in the AI assistant development race.
