OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is being rumored to be rolling out advertising on this popular artificial intelligence platform.
The information comes from the fact that the company is looking for a new position called "Chief Monetization Officer" to manage revenue strategy.
According to many sources, Fidji Simo, CEO of OpenAI's new Application, has begun meeting and negotiating with a number of potential candidates. The selected person will be responsible for developing and operating the company's profitable strategy, including revenue from subscriptions, advertisements on ChatGPT and other sources other than the existing subscription package.
This move has sparked many speculations that the ad will soon appear on ChatGPT. If the information is true, this will be a big change for the user experience.
Currently, OpenAI is operating ChatGPT Plus and Pro service packages, but it is unclear whether advertising will only apply to free users or will also affect paying customers.
Some concerns have been raised that integrating ads can slow down response speeds or cause dispersation in the conversation experience.
However, another scenario is also set for OpenAI to maintain ad-free subscription packages in parallel with ad-free packages, to create choices for users.
There is currently no official information about the form of advertising that will appear. They can be text advertisements integrated directly into the conversation, or displayed advertisements in the application interface.
The new Carrying Director will report directly to Fidji Simo, who held key roles at Facebook before joining OpenAI, according to the sources.
If deployed, ChatGPT advertising will mark a major turning point in OpenAI's money-making strategy.
This also reflects the company's increased pressure to expand revenue, especially as the operating costs of huge AI models are increasing.
OpenAI has not yet made an official comment on the issue. However, the technology community and ChatGPT users are closely monitoring to see if the worlds most popular AI conversation will change the way it works in the near future.
