On September 24, Perplexity AI officially announced the Email Assistant, a new productivity tool for Max package customers.
This feature is designed to change the way users manage their mailbox, giving users the experience of almost having a personal assistant right in Gmail and Outlook.
Unlike traditional email automation systems, Perplexity's Email assistant connects directly to the email account, thereby learning how to communicate and the user's working preferences.
This tool not only classifies and reminds, but also composes emails with appropriate tones, while automatically proposing meeting schedules based on available schedules.
According to Perplexity, the virtual assistant can summarize long discussion streams, helping users quickly grasp the main content. In addition, it also prioritizes important emails and answers specific questions related to inbox.
For example, you can ask: Summary of all Q4 budget messages? or What emails should I read before the board meeting?...
These features are expected to save significant time, especially for busy people who often have to process hundreds of emails per day.
Perplexity emphasizes that Email Assistant complies with GDPR and SOC 2, ensuring the safety of user data.
The company affirmed that the tool never uses inbox data to train AI, helping to maintain absolute privacy.
Users can activate the service by connecting their email account to the Email Assistant Center, then adding the assistant@perplexity.com address to the lettering when needed. The Max package is currently priced at $200.
In parallel with Email Assistant, Perplexity has also just introduced Comet, a new AI browser for Pro users from September 22. Unlike Chrome or Edge, Comet works as an integrated workspace, remembering user habits, managing tabs, summarizing emails and calendar events.
Comet's AI-powered page can act as a factor, allowing purchases, setting up meetings, or turning websites into emails with just text commands.
The company said it will continue to enhance Comet's capacity in the coming time, turning it into a comprehensive support tool for digital work.
With Email Assistant and Comet browser, Perplexity is building an AI ecosystem focusing on increasing personal productivity. This is considered an important step, putting Perplexity in direct competition with big names like Google and Microsoft in the field of applied AI.
