The upcoming iPhone 17 Air model will have a battery capacity of about 2,800 mAh. However, thanks to the new Adaptive Power Mode energy-saving mode on iOS 26, the device can still meet the daily usage time.
Some iPhone 12 and 13 models used to have batteries below the 3,000 mAh mark. Although the mAh parameters can only be compared accurately if the battery has the same voltage, iPhone models often use the same voltage level, so this comparison is still meaningful.
Previously, some information said that the iPhone 17 Air with an ultra-thin design of only 5.5mm will be limited to the internal space, which may have less battery life than previous generations.
In internal testing, Apple determined that only about 60-70% of users can use the iPhone 17 Air throughout the day without charging, down from 80-90% in other iPhone models.
To compensate, Apple is expected to introduce an additional back cover and charging battery accessory for the iPhone 17 Air. This will be the first time Apple has returned to this accessory line since the battery pack for iPhone 11 and the MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 (which has been discontinued).
