This issue was discovered by Mojo Trick after a user posted cases of taking photos with faulty telephoto lenses on the Samsung Korea forum.
This user specifically mentioned the 3x optical zoom feature of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in his report. The report said: "When it is daylight, image quality is clearly affected by the 3x zoom, and I thought it was just my imagination, but when I turned on the flash and filmed in the dark, the problem is very clear...".
They added that photos taken using 3x zoom mode were "blurred", and many other users on the Samsung Members application also reported similar problems. This user, believing it was a hardware error, took the phone to the repair center. They were informed that the problem was not caused by the phone's camera, leading to the next reasonable conclusion: software error.
Users continue to say they have sent appropriate bug logs to Samsung's support department, and the company has acknowledged the problem. Samsung stated that the problem "is expected to be fixed and improved in the upcoming software update". However, they emphasized that patience is needed, meaning there is no clear indication of when this update will be released. However, the release date of the patch has not yet been determined.
