The Korean company will start by temporarily stopping sales in the domestic market, then will stop doing business in the US when selling off the remaining inventory, a company spokesman said. According to experts, this move was predicted in advance.
This month, Samsung's website stopped advertising future additions to this advanced smartphone, which has two hinges and opens into a large 10-inch tablet. Currently, the website simply announces that TriFold is "out of stock".
According to reports on social media and Reddit, buyers have found sources of goods at Samsung Experience Stores in Frisco, Texas and Queens, New York in recent days, suggesting that at least some products are still available.
Samsung introduced this device at the end of last year as evidence of the company's technical capabilities. However, the price of the device immediately made it a product exclusively for the richest people and a pioneer in this field. The device was launched in Korea on December 12, 2025 for 3.59 million won. The version for the US market was released in January 2026.
Samsung has heavily promoted the multitasking potential of the wide screen, although this device also has some limitations. TriFold is only sold directly from Samsung. Mobile carriers and retailers have never provided it to consumers - another sign of TriFold's short-lived fate.
In an interview last month, Won-Joon Choi, CEO of Samsung's Mobile Experience division, said that the company has not yet decided whether TriFold will produce a successor version or not, due to the complexity of production.
However, some core benefits of the device - such as the ideal wide frame rate for viewing multimedia content - may be integrated into Samsung's cheaper folding phones in the future.
Meanwhile, Samsung has started launching the Galaxy S26 Ultra on the market, with a new security screen and a series of new AI features.
