Phone Arena quoted a market expert as saying that Samsung's tri-fold smartphone will only be available in Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan (China) and possibly the UAE. Other markets, including Europe and North America, have not.
This contrary to previous forecasts, Samsung said it is considering releasing this tri-fold device in the US. It is not uncommon for Samsung to be cautious with tri-fold smartphones. In the past, they have always maintained a safety strategy with new testing equipment and designs. A recent example is the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE, which was only launched in Korea and China.
To date, Huawei is the only company to release tri-fold smartphones, but their phones are not sold in the US.
With Samsung's cautious approach, it may take the company a while longer to bring this tri-fold device to the mass market.
Samsung's tri-fold smartphone has not yet had an official name, it could be TriFold, G Fold or Multifold. Samsung is said to be producing only 50,000 tri-fold phones, which shows that they are not very optimistic about the sales outlook, as demand in this market is still not really clear.
Another reason for the limited launch may be the rumored price of $3,000. This is a fairly high price for a smartphone, and perhaps not many people are willing to pay for it. This device will be the biggest change in the product line since the launch of Samsung's first foldable phone in 2019.
TriFold, which can be called the Galaxy G Fold or Multifold 7, or even a completely new name, will be announced at the APEC Summit in November. It will be displayed in glass and no one is allowed to touch it.
