Normally, Samsung introduces the new Galaxy S series in January or February every year at the Unpacked event, but that may not happen in 2026.
According to updated information, the Galaxy S26 Plus will only start mass production in January, making it difficult to launch as early as previous generations.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to account for about half of all orders of the Galaxy S26 series, will be mass produced in January. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus will have to wait until February to start production.
Initially, Samsung planned to produce all three Galaxy S26 models in December this year, including the Galaxy S26, S26 Ultra and S26 Edge - the super-thin model that will replace the Edge line. However, due to disappointing S25 Edge sales, the company canceled the S26 Edge model and replaced it with the S26 Plus.
The development of the S26 and S26 Ultra has been completed, but the S26 Plus needs another 1-2 months to be ready for mass production.
In addition, there is information that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be produced with two different chip versions, Exynos 2600 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite, which could further delay the progress.
It is too early to say whether Samsung will make a familiar change to the Galaxy S26 series. The company may still introduce the device in January or February, but postpone the launch time, or only launch the Galaxy S26 Ultra model first, with the remaining two models on the back shelves.
All is still speculation, and users will have to wait for more official information from Samsung in the coming months.
