Spotify helps users better control suggested playlists

Spotify has just launched an update for the Release Radar feature, allowing users to proactively adjust how the system recommends songs according to their preferences.

Spotify has just updated the Release Radar feature with improved listening sessions controls, helping to narrow the range of suggestions and bring more music suitable for users' preferences. The new feature is being deployed on both mobile and computer applications.

Users can recognize the update if new options appear at the top of the Release Radar playlist such as: Discovering New Artists, Editor Selection, Easy to Listen to or Pop,... Spotify will display up to 5 options at the same time for users to quickly adjust the direction of the suggestion.

In addition to adding personalization options, Spotify also said it has comprehensively improved the Suggestion System of the Release Radar. This playlist is also refreshed in interface with new cover photos and titles.

Release Radar was launched by Spotify in 2016 as a tool to help users discover music and new artists. Every Friday, the platform will automatically create a playlist of up to about two hours long, combining new songs from artists users are following with songs from other artists that may suit their listening needs.

With this update, users can fine-tune the playlist to be more detailed, thereby reducing the possibility of songs that do not match their preferences appearing and improving the music discovery experience on Spotify.

The new move shows that Spotify continues to invest in personalizing the music listening experience in the context of streaming platforms increasingly competing with content suggestion capabilities.
