Unverified accounts cannot post on Facebook

From December 25, only verified accounts will be allowed to post information (write articles, comment, livestream) and share information on social networks.

The Government Portal reported on December 22 that the Government has issued Decree No. 147/2024/ND-CP regulating the management, provision and use of internet services and online information.

Regarding the transitional provisions, the Decree clearly states that within 90 days from December 25, 2024, foreign organizations, enterprises and individuals providing cross-border information to Vietnam and domestic organizations and enterprises providing social network services must authenticate active accounts of social network service users as prescribed in Point e, Clause 3, Article 23; Point b, Clause 3, Article 27 of Decree 147/2024/ND-CP.

According to the provisions of Point e, Clause 3, Article 23; Point b, Clause 3, Article 27 of Decree 147/2024/ND-CP, verifying accounts of social network service users using mobile phone numbers in Vietnam.

Only in case the user confirms that he/she does not have a mobile phone number in Vietnam, the foreign organization or individual providing social networking services will authenticate the account using the personal identification number.

In case a social network service user uses the livestream feature for commercial purposes, the foreign organization or individual providing the social network service must authenticate the account using a personal identification number.

Ensure that only verified accounts can post information (write articles, comment, livestream) and share information on social networks.

This authentication helps prevent fraud, protect privacy and enhance user responsibility. At the same time, it also brings many benefits such as easy account recovery, enhanced security and full enjoyment of the platform's features.

According to information from a technology joint stock company, the way to verify phone numbers for Facebook accounts is as follows:

Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your phone > Click on the Settings icon > Select Personal Information to verify your social network account.

Step 2: Continue to select Personal Information > Now select Contact Information.

Step 3: Select Add new contact information > Click on Add mobile number to verify your Facebook account with phone number.

Step 4: Enter your main phone number > Click on the account you want to verify the phone number > Click Continue. Enter the code sent to the email you registered your Facebook account with.

Note: The phone number used to verify your Facebook account must be the owner's phone number, have clear identification information, and be active in both directions.

The interface to add phone number will reappear, click Next again > Now Facebook has added your phone number to your account and sent you a verification code to that phone number > Please check and fill in the box to Continue verification.

Step 5: Once completed, Facebook will notify whether the authentication was successful or not.

Step 6: You can return to the main interface of Settings on Facebook > Select Personal Information to check if the phone number has been successfully added.
